Damien Trites founded Brave Path Recovery to help people rebuild their lives through outpatient mental health and addiction care in Milford, Massachusetts. His approach to recovery leadership draws on lived experience, personal loss and work across addiction treatment and recovery services.
Why he founded Brave Path Recovery
Personal loss shaped Damien’s commitment to helping individuals and families find support. He built Brave Path around dignity, structure and community, with the goal of helping people reconnect with purpose as they work through recovery.
As Founder and Executive Director, Damien guides the organization’s mission and culture. Brave Path offers Part-Time Day Treatment and Full-Time Day Treatment, with support for mental health and substance use concerns.
Experience and community involvement
Damien is a former professional mixed martial arts fighter and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. He brings the discipline and community of combat sports to his recovery mission. He also leads Brave Path’s free Brazilian jiu-jitsu class for first responders; the class page has current dates and participation details.
Working alongside the care team
Brave Path’s team works with individuals to understand their needs and discuss whether outpatient care is an appropriate next step. Ryann Whitaker, Program Director, oversees program operations and supports the team’s day-to-day work.
