Our Mission
Brave Path Recovery was born from lived experience, loss, and resilience. This mission is deeply personal to our founder, Damien Trites, and is inspired by the memory of the mother of his son, whose life and struggles forever shaped his understanding of addiction, love, and the urgent need for better support. Her story fuels our commitment to treat every person with dignity, empathy, and respect, never as a diagnosis, but as a human being worthy of hope and healing.
We believe recovery is not just about abstinence, it’s about rebuilding mind, body, and spirit. Through clinical excellence, accountability, community, and holistic practices, we help individuals rediscover strength, purpose, and self-belief. We meet people where they are and walk with them forward, step by step, on their own brave path.
At Brave Path Recovery, we don’t promise an easy road—but we promise honesty, support, and unwavering belief that transformation is possible. Together, as family, guided by the light of our brave path, we rise.
What is Dual Diagnosis Treatment?

Understanding Dual Diagnosis: Mental Health and Substance Use
Dual diagnosis, also known as co-occurring disorders, occurs when someone experiences both a mental health condition—such as depression or anxiety—and a substance use disorder simultaneously. These conditions often interact, making each more difficult to treat if addressed separately. Effective dual diagnosis treatment recognizes the interconnected nature of these disorders and provides integrated care for both.

Why Dual Diagnosis Requires Specialized Care
Treating dual diagnosis is more complex than treating either mental health or substance use disorders alone. Individuals with co-occurring disorders often face unique challenges, including higher relapse rates and more severe symptoms. Specialized care is essential to address both issues concurrently, ensuring that treatment for one disorder does not exacerbate the other.

Common Conditions Treated (Anxiety, Depression, Alcohol, Cocaine, Opioids)
At Brave Path Recovery, we commonly treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD alongside substance use disorders involving alcohol, cocaine, opioids, and other drugs. Our clinicians are experienced in managing the unique needs of individuals facing these challenges. By addressing both mental health and substance use, we help clients achieve lasting recovery.

Why Choose Brave Path Recovery in Massachusetts?
Brave Path Recovery combines evidence-based therapies—such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and medication-assisted treatment (MAT)—with holistic approaches like mindfulness, fitness, and nutrition. This blend ensures that clients receive scientifically validated care while also benefiting from whole-person wellness practices. Our approach is tailored to each individual, maximizing the chances of successful recovery.
We provide Day Treatment services, licensed and approved by BSAS under 105 CMR 164. Insurance providers may refer to these services as Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
When described as PHP, Day Treatment reflects a more intensive, structured schedule with extended daytime programming while allowing clients to return home in the evenings. When described as IOP, Day Treatment involves fewer weekly hours and greater flexibility, supporting individuals who are stepping down from higher levels of care or balancing treatment with daily responsibilities.
Brave Path Recovery partners with local sober living homes to provide safe, supportive housing for clients in need of a stable environment during treatment. Our community fosters connection, accountability, and encouragement, all vital to long-term recovery. Sober housing options help bridge the gap between intensive treatment and independent living.
Every client at Brave Path Recovery receives a personalized treatment plan, including one-on-one coaching and group therapy sessions. Individual coaching helps clients set goals, build coping skills, and address personal challenges. Group therapy offers peer support, shared experiences, and opportunities to practice new skills in a safe environment.
