Therapy is one part of an opioid care plan
Outpatient therapy can give you a place to discuss substance use, relationships, routines, and difficult situations while living outside the program. Opioid use disorder care can also include medication and medical follow-up. Ask an appropriately qualified clinician about the full range of treatment options rather than assuming therapy alone is the complete plan. Learn about opioid addiction treatment at Brave Path Recovery.
Keep medication care connected
Methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are medications used to treat opioid use disorder. Their suitability is a clinical decision. Ask who provides medication care, how appointments are arranged, and how an outpatient therapy team can coordinate with that provider. Ask admissions which medication services are available through Brave Path and which require a separate provider.
Bring practical recovery challenges into sessions
Tell the team about the situations that are hard to manage outside treatment, including cravings, conflict, isolation, and interrupted routines. Ask how the plan will help you respond to those situations and what to do if you need more support. If you recently left another program, bring its follow-up recommendations.
Confirm the next appointment and contact
Write down which provider handles therapy, which handles medication, and whom to contact about changes. Ask your medical provider about overdose prevention and emergency planning. Brave Path can discuss its outpatient services and care coordination; urgent medical needs require an appropriate medical service.
